Our students visited the Seismological Observatory at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje

Last week, our Grade 11 students visited the Seismological Observatory at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje 🌍

During the visit, they explored the underground rooms where different generations of seismographs are kept, including mechanical instruments that still preserve the recordings of the 1963 Skopje earthquake. Students also followed live recordings of earthquakes happening around the world that same day and learned how seismic activity is monitored across Macedonia.

The second part of the visit included a lecture about earthquakes, seismic scales, safety measures and some of the strongest earthquakes in Macedonia’s history. Our students asked thoughtful questions, learned how earthquakes and tsunamis happen, and even discovered which city in Macedonia is considered the safest in terms of seismic activity 👀

A very interesting and educational experience for our students!
