The American High School Skopje is an open and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, culture, and beliefs. We work hard to nurture and support the diversity of our community and to truly provide a safe place to learn and grow. Following both national and international guidelines for child safety and protection, we remain careful and protective over the emotional, physical, social, educational, and moral well-being of every AHSS student.

To achieve this, we implement the following acts and procedures:

  • We educate all our staff on various forms and nuances of abuse, neglect, and trouble. We describe, analyze and foresee possible situations and suitable responses;
  • We inform staff that it is their duty and their obligation to identify and report anything suspicious or out of the ordinary so that additional attention is provided;
  • We follow legal, social, and moral obligations and procedures in case of suspected abuse or neglect, so that child safety and well-being are ensured;
  • We collaborate and work closely with external health, social and educational agencies for guarding the well-being of children;
  • We develop special alerts and procedures regarding cyber trends and threats to recognize forms of cyber abuse related to the enhanced online presence of children.

SCHOOL SAFETY GUARD

At the American High School Skopje, student safety is always a priority. That is why we have a safety guard always on campus, ensuring a secure and welcoming environment for all students, staff and visitors. Responsible for monitoring the campus, enforcing school policies, and responding to emergencies, our security officer collaborates with local law enforcement and school administration to promote safety awareness and preventive measures. Trained to respond to emergencies and maintain a peaceful atmosphere, our safety guard allows our students to focus on their education and personal growth. 

HEALTH INSURANCE

As part of our dedication to fostering a safe environment for all, we are focused on the health and wellbeing of our students through health insurance and regular health check-ups. Our health insurance plan provides students with 24/7 access to essential medical services, ensuring that they can seek care without financial stress. Additionally, we organize regular health check-ups to monitor students’ physical and mental health, helping to identify any potential issues early on. By fostering a supportive health environment, we empower our students to thrive academically and personally, equipping them with the resources they need for a healthier future.

TOKEN

The security and convenience of our students is something that we really pay attention to, and that is why, at the beginning of every academic year, every student is issued a unique digital token that grants them access to certain doors around the campus. This system not only ensures that only authorized individuals can enter specific areas, enhancing safety, but also provides students with a seamless way to navigate the school. With the simple tap of their token, students can focus on their education without the hassle of traditional keys, fostering a more modern and efficient learning environment.
