Exams
The end of each course in AHSS is wrapped up with a written exam. The grading of the students is based on the general assessment system in our country and aligned with the scoring system in American high schools. Extracurricular courses are graded with the pass/fail description only. Besides this, students are also given descriptive evaluations of their overall academic success, their personal and group achievements, and the implementation of planned activities, as well as their overall school behavior.
Peregrine Testing
AHSS is a partner of Peregrine Global Testing Services, which carries out the external testing at the end of Grade 12, i.e. Year IV. This means that the results of our students are compared to the results of the same tests of the students in other high schools in the USA and around the world who also implement the Peregrine methods of testing. This procedure enables AHSS to truly reflect and review the learnings, achievements, strengths, and weaknesses of the knowledge that it offers. With Peregrine’s reports, we are able to identify the areas we excel at, as well as the areas in need of improvement, so that we can provide continuous advancement of our high school curriculum and ensure the success of each next generation of our global citizens.
IB Testing
As part of the IB Diploma Program, students are also tested prior to starting the program. The students who choose IB to take six subjects (offered) and three core IB subjects in grades 11 and 12, and external IB tests at the end of grade 12. This testing is also required for transfer students from other schools who wish to begin the IB program.
Graduation
The students that decide to continue the standard education, at the end of their studying will undergo preparation for the State Matura exam.
Diploma
At the end of each year, students received a standard Macedonian diploma with the equivalent (numeric) grading, as well as our AHSS report card. The students who graduate from AHSS receive the State Matura diploma (or IB diploma) and our AHSS diploma for having finished high school.
