🌟 Wrapping Up the RYCO Superschools Project: Social Broomstick 🌟
This year, American High School Skopje (AHSS) partnered with Third Millennium High School in Prishtina for a truly inspiring Superschools exchange. Through the Social Broomstick project, 24 students, aged 16-17, came together to explore the power of poetry and theatre in promoting intercultural dialogue and social change.
From poetry workshops to cultural explorations and meaningful discussions, students bridged their differences to build connections that go beyond borders. The platform Theatre of Spells: Poetry for Change was a highlight, empowering students to express their thoughts and raise awareness about critical social issues through art, storytelling, and personal experiences.
One of the key outcomes has been our focus on slam poetry workshops—a creative and empowering outlet for young voices. These workshops are designed to foster personal growth and spark meaningful community dialogue, evolving into powerful tools for advocacy and activism. Regular slam poetry events in local theatres under the Theatre of Spells banner will ensure this project’s legacy continues, becoming a vibrant platform for future students to engage and inspire.
But this is more than a project—it’s the beginning of a tradition. The friendship and collaboration between AHSS and Third Millennium High School now extend far beyond the RYCO Superschools framework. Students and teachers alike have cultivated connections that transcend school hours, creating a foundation for long-term partnerships and innovative ideas.
Together, we’ve laid the groundwork for a brighter future, one where creativity and collaboration fuel understanding and unity. With RYCO’s invaluable support, we’re not just building a project—we’re shaping a legacy that will grow, evolve, and make a difference for generations to come.
